      Roger Moore Movie Nation It'd all come off better in a film with the opening half-hour whacked off and the rest subjected to a vigorous edit as well.       Audience Member The interaction between men in this film is well written (so far as I can tell from subtitles), believable and boisterously funny. Everyone's on the hustle and, though it looks different place to place, we all know the struggle. Unfortunately, the female protagonist (Cathy) is one dimensional and nearly all her terribly written lines fall flat. The film is practically a PSA on the dangers of not hiring any female writers. It's only saving grace in this respect is that Cathy's lines are sufficiently few and far between that one can almost watch it as a goofy travelogue rather than a rom-com. Cathy's role as the "ugly American" is also a bit too exaggerated to be comical. That said, I am American myself and perhaps I'm expecting more nuance than our own film industry shows to non-Americans (or even just non-white Americans).
