What to Know

Critics Consensus

A housebound thriller with a 21st century spin, KIMI finds director Steven Soderbergh in crowd-pleasing form -- thanks in no small part to an outstanding performance from Zoë Kravitz.

Audience Says

KIMI has some interesting ideas, but the story isn't very original -- and some viewers might find it hard to get past the main character's behavior.

Christina Newland iNews.co.uk Zoë Kravitz is at her best in this compelling Hitchcockian film, that critiques Big Tech's ability to track our every movement. Rated: 4/5 Sep 19, 2024 Full Review Guy Lodge Film of the Week A long-overdue starring showcase for the bewitching Zoë Kravitz [...] here taking to the solo spotlight with an agile, unfussed air of can’t-be-bought-or-faked cool. May 31, 2022 Full Review Amy Nicholson FilmWeek (KPCC - NPR Los Angeles) It's kind of an unglamorous spy film, and my favorite parts of it were when Steven Soderbergh was making fun of how people talk online. Mar 11, 2022 Full Review Daniel Allen Loud and Clear Reviews Steven Soderbergh ’s Kimi is a COVID-influenced technology thriller that is the director’s best film in years, with a likeable and introverted performance from Zoë Kravitz. Rated: 3.5/5 Jul 22, 2024 Full Review Emiliano Basile EscribiendoCine Kimi is another example of Soderbergh's ability to handle stories that revitalize narrative structures from the past and update them with contemporary problems. Bryan S Great movie. Zoe did great at playing a severely traumatized ptsd victim that was worst after the pandemic. It plays to how a-lot off people got use to being isolated and enjoyed the comfort and sense of protection your home gives you. People say the movie is slow and characters are shallow, I disagree. It portrayed normal people with normal feelings. It also shows the easy corruption of corporate America and the extent they would go to cover up bad doing of an Exec’. Bravo! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/22/24 Full Review Stephen R Rubbish. Not worth watching. Boring Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 09/27/24 Full Review ben c I think I'm being generous with my rating. I waited to see if there was a plot twist or something that was going to make up for the time waiting for the story to develop but nothing. 🙄 oh well on to my next movie. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 09/05/24 Full Review Iamwhoi M It's not a horrible moviie; but I didn't care about or like any of the characters. The movie is a bit sterile & boring. Honestly, I think a story about the subject of the recording would've been a way better movie than a story about the person who found the recording. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 08/18/24 Full Review Giorgio G It's a surprisingly good low budget movie. There isn't any tough tension, except for close to the end, but it's still curious enough to drag you along all the way to an unexpected great finale! Besides Zoe there aren't any important actors, but she alone is quite capable of carrying the story. 7/10 points. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 07/17/24 Full Review Dani G Better than expected, but still... "A made for platform movie" Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 07/06/24 Full Review Read all reviews
