Audience Member Not without merit. It's got parts. All the stuff between Leguizamo and Rapaport is gold, as to be expected. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member Was a really good movie in my eyes John Leguizamo plays his part amazingly, the grittiness of the city was brought out really well in this movie. The over all drama of the tale was portrayed wonderfully. Some of the acting was a bit off hence the 4 star rating and not the 5 Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member did not like it at all....plot was very undeveloped! Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member Leguziamo was brilliant in this. A Nuyorcentric movie with all the NY actors & actresses. Kevin Thomas Los Angeles Times [Seymour's] story demands a larger meaning, a sense of the poetic, than mere heart-tugging can provide, but Rosenfeld cannot provide it. Rated: 2/5 Nov 16, 2001 Full Review Gene Seymour Newsday A hard, vibrant surface can't quite cover the mossy, skimpy center of this story. Nov 9, 2001 Full Review Jonathan Foreman New York Post One of those films that feel drunk on their own virtue. Rated: 2/4 Nov 9, 2001 Full Review Jolyon Helterman Out Magazine On more than one occasion Leguizamo seems almost startled by some ludicrous plot twist that leaves him flailing (unintentionally) in the middle of an otherwise nuanced performance.
