Pathetic b My first experience with japanese cinema. I have heared a lot of bad things about this from other people but I cannot understand, for the life of me why. Yes, it takes a long time to tell something quite obvious(even if interesting). But the movie is very good at demonstrating what would be considered "offensive" topics/behaviour for a, clearly, middle to upper middle class audience in a very inoffensive way. And yet the ending is very, very strong and tries to bring across something that, for all the movies that I have seen, I have never encountered in the same way again. How do all the elements and people that where exiled to the fringe of society, exist NOW, and reconcile their poistion to and in a modern, western coined, society, who's values are, above every other kind, some form of "freedom of choice".
