See more 04/25/2010 Fatih Akin's immense skill at framing visuals and powerful storytelling are well and truly evident in his first feature. The theme of ethnic conflict within multicultural Hamburg as portrayed here has been repeated in almost all his films since. Macho Turks, Germans, Greeks, Albanians and Serbs lock horns in gangland warfare. The story itself is nothing new, but its still stirring stuff, thanks to great characters, performances and direction. I don't care if his stories never leave Hamburg, I can't wait for the next one.
