Audience Member I almost forgot I had seen this film. It was on the CBC documentary channel and probably the first thing I have watched on it for ages. I had wanted to see this film for some time, being as Im a Montrealer with limited knowledge of the city's past and its stories. As it is I can't say I was too impressed unfortunately. The lack of a voiceover track for me really impacted the presence of the film. I don''t know why but I felt it needed one to tie it together a little more. The fact that it was just a series of montages meant that it wasnt compelling watching. More than once I noted my wife and I were both ignoring the film and looking at our ipo/ads which tells you something about how you could afford to turn away without really missing anything. Also, the fact that the picture quality wasnt great, an SD feed with a small picture size meant you didnt really get a good look at the city, I guess watching in the cinema would have helped. So yeah i think 3 stars is being generous here, it could have been done better in my opinion.
