Jeannette Catsoulis New York Times Though at times too determined to avoid dramatic highs and lows, "Little Girl" strikes gold in the casting of the 2-year-old Asia Crippa. Rated: 3/5 Aug 31, 2011 Full Review S. James Snyder Time Out Covi and Frimmel work their neorealistic magic, turning what might have been a sappy maternal-awakening melodrama into a simplistic, genuinely sweet tribute to motherhood, Italian style. Rated: 4/5 Aug 31, 2011 Full Review Nick Pinkerton Village Voice Scenes showing the tricky process of acclimatizing a child to new surroundings, and the patchwork of experiences that make up an education -- both Asia's and Tairo's -- are grounded by entirely affectless performances, not least that of little Asia Crippa. Aug 30, 2011 Full Review Martín Rodríguez En Filme ... An intimate story that feels authentic thanks to the quality of its craftsmanship. Audience Member Amazing film - creating so much warmth from so much desolation Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member Totally enjoyable film, mostly due to the endearing and adorable central figure, the little girl. The acting was so remarkable that I started wondering-- is this is really a drama? Isn't it actually a documentary? Apparently not, but the acting is amazing. I found the ending unsatisfying, but until that last moment, it was one of the more enjoyable films that I've seen and an interesting glimpse into contemporary Italian life. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member Cutest and most touching movie I have seen awhile. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Audience Member An enjoyable Italian film that relies heavily on the adorable performance of its toddler star; touching without being overly sentimental.
