It keeps things simple, but that actually works because the focus stays on teamwork, danger, and fighting to get out alive. It has an essence and style that really worked for me. I highly recommend it. Second half gets a little slower when it comes to action but honestly it was so needed because it explains a lot about what’s happening since the 1st half is such high octane. Literally action the whole time so reviews who say it's too slow are smoking crack for real. It's not a knew "idea" per say... But what is these days? Not even Obsession or the Backrooms is FULLY original. I actually really enjoyed the script, I felt the dialogue made sense for the characters and it had the remnants of a video game narrative tbh which I enjoy. Great visuals, that's definitely the best part in my opinion. I'd say the biggest problem with the film comes down to: They clearly had a budget & the characters don't have crazy backstory and deep interpersonal aspects to them. More than anything, I appreciated how the characters talked to each other. The dialogue didn't feel like movie dialogue to me—I know people who speak exactly like this. Messy, emotional, sometimes intense, but real. You can tell they didn't have a huge budget, and there are a few moments where the limitations show. But instead of hurting the movie, it made me appreciate what they pulled off even more. They focused on the characters, the tension, and telling the story they wanted to tell instead of trying to be bigger than they were. If this movie had studio-level money behind it, I honestly think people would be calling it one of the best action thrillers of the year. As an indie, it's an impressive achievement and one I enjoyed a lot more than I expected. This film has been completed for quite some time so for people to think it’s a new concept are sorely mistaken.. I knew I was in for something dope but my goodness it was gorgeous.
