L H I really like this movie because Larry and I have the exact same name, Larry Herman! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/20/22 Full Review Audience Member I saw this movie on TV back in 1974, but I've thought back on it numerous times in the decades since. Based on the tragic true story of a man who was mislabeled as profoundly retarded by an unscrupulous doctor, in order to have him admitted to the institution which he owned. Larry was perfectly normal, but had learned to mimic the other patients in the home, since these were the people he grew up with. He was moved to a state hospital when the original institution was shut down by investigators. At this hospital, an observant doctor played by Tyne Daly discovers his hidden intelligence and gradually helps him adapt to the outside world. At the end he is able to leave the hospital. Excellent made for TV movie. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Read all reviews
