Troy and his son Jake have been living off the grid for over twenty years. Every day is a fight for survival with Troy warning his son of dire consequences should he go beyond the barriers of the woodland Utopia they have built together as all interlopers are dealt with in the most brutal fashion. But the sheltered and naïve Jake is naturally becoming curious about life outside their isolated wilderness. And a chance encounter with a beautiful stranger is about to see their world unravel in a shocking flood of secrets, lies and homegrown horror.

Noel Murray Los Angeles Times 02/03/2022
At its core, this is an earnest movie about how best to endure a crisis: by sharing the load with others, rather than assuming every stranger is an enemy. Go to Full Review
Anton Bitel Sight & Sound 12/07/2021
This story of a father and son surviving off-grid against an outside world of "chaos and marauders" might seem a cabin-bound reimagining of the post-apocalyptic The Road (2009), but Drew Mylrea's feature is more akin to The Village (2004). Go to Full Review
Angie Han The Hollywood Reporter 11/01/2021
It's clearly a film with a lot on its mind, one that's eager to grapple with the gnarled roots of its own appeal. But its reticence keeps it from exploring the more challenging, and possibly more rewarding, paths laid out before it. Go to Full Review

While the plot is also quite small in a sense, it hits damn hard. With strong performances to carry the simple plot of this dystopian thriller, you should be entertained from start to finish. Go to Full Review

Although the execution isn’t perfect, Mylrea gets extra points for the unexpected tonal shift — and how the film’s revelations are gradually brought to light. Overall, the cast manages to salvage “Last Survivors.” Go to Full Review

Sam A 08/31/2024 A good watch with a decent twist that I didn't see coming. The film is mainly based around the relationship of father and son See more Marc G 05/13/2024 Not bad, acting was good, story pretty predictable. See more Dave V 04/18/2024 I only have one question the film didn't answer. Why!!! See more Avindu G 06/12/2023 It's a pretty simple conclusion and there were so many hints along the way. The dialogues felt unnatural as if it was forced. Maybe due to this rawness in dialogues the bond between Troy and Jake seemed impossible to have been preserved away from the world for such a lengthy period of time. Great scenery of nature. Snowy mountains and lonely woods can justify the secret existence yet it's not realistic considering the civilization so much nearby. Great acting by the cast carefully treating the characters and putting up a balanced performance. Sincere acting by Drew and Stephen makes this watch interesting. See more Rich G @Rich0826 05/25/2023 Not terrible.. the son is to good looking with perfect hair to have lived in the wilderness his whole life. Would have been mad if I paid for it. See more Night O 09/08/2022 It is a film that has stayed with me. Yes, the shooting location and landscape are gorgeous, the acting so nuanced, the soundtrack compelling. The storyline and themes of the movie are evocative of these times and thought provoking. It left open questions about how people spiral into deep convictions that are unmoored, how others can free themselves from half truths, and how those emotionally wounded can gently reenter society. It's a wonderful film - well worth the time. See more Read all reviews
