Donald Sutherland commands a stunning array of gestures both precise and revealing...an extraordinarily physical performance and the gem of this flawed masterpiece. Go to Full Review

The production is gigantic, but the ideas and feelings are small. Go to Full Review
Jonathan Rosenbaum Chicago Reader 12/11/2017
As one of the late flowerings of the director's claustrophobic studio style at its most deliberately artificial, this is a memorable work, helped along by Nino Rota's music and Danilo Donati's Oscar-winning costumes. Go to Full Review

This film is so delicious, and so exuberant, that one doesn't know where to begin with it. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

Fellini's Casanova is a cold, lugubrious film. A chilling undressing of myth. But at a cost of $7 million, four years and several lawsuits, it is still spectacular cinema. It is Fellini, which is to say this film is an opera for the eyes. Go to Full Review

Jacob B Mar 11 My favorite period of Fellini—when the visuals became more important than the story. For fans of the director or Sutherland it is a must see. For those unfortunates who aren’t fans of either, I would suggest you run away! See more Aender S 04/12/2024 This film was a drag, I was glad when it hit the end. Too artsy-fartsy for my taste, even the great Donald Sutherland couldn't save it. See more 06/15/2021 Fellini produce un'opera goliardica e coraggiosa allo stesso tempo; esplosiva ed ironica. See more 08/20/2020 Felllini could do no wrong and Donald Sutherland's performance is outstanding. Yes, it's strange, it's Fellini. See more 02/18/2020 It s very bad film. It doesn't makes sense. Don't go to film See more 10/31/2019 Casanova is not only the greatest achievement of Fellini, but one of the best film what i have ever seen. Like Citizen Kane, a deep and complex presentation of life, like 2001, rediscover the world around us, like Apocalypse Now, a dark expedition to the ontology borders of the human existence. The cinematographer Giuseppe Rotunno, art director and costume designer Danilo Donati, and composer Nino Rota gave there career's best. Underrated when it was presented, and forgotten today. Everybody must see. See more Read all reviews
