Another criminally underrated movie - 17%!! For comparison, the so-bad-it's-virtually-unwatchable Captain Marvel has 79%! This movie is very flawed, but also very enjoyable, and it was the first superhero team-up movie long before Avengers graced our screens, and it gets as much right as it gets wrong. In fact, the much more successful Avengers Assemble movie owes a lot of its success to this - emphasizing what LXG did right, and avoiding what it gets wrong. The heroes in the team (all from literary backgrounds) are highly distrustful of each other (a tone that Avengers copied verbatim). There are some superb one-liners, and some expository dialogue that absolute clunks. But it's forgiveable, as the atmosphere is superbly dark full of streampunk/dieselpunk touches. It also has one of the best plot twists of any movie of this sort, which Avengers and Batman Begins took inspiration from but couldn't match. In the end, this is an enjoyable proto-Avengers experience. 70%. Not 17%.

I don’t understand the negative viewer reviews? The critics I understand. They are always wrong with their self indulgent opinions. But I read a few complaints about the CGI not being very good. IMO it’s fine for a movie that 23 years old. The cast is really good. The story and cast are great. If you like 90s style mystery movies? You won’t be disappointed. This is fun movie that still stands up to scrutiny.

The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, it’s a very bad movie with horrible CGI. With ridiculous ideas. The only part that carries is Sean Connery, he does fine. I definitely don’t recommend it, if you love watching 2000s action horror movies, then you probably will enjoy it. Overall, I give it a 3/10 or 2.5/5 stars.
