Mark Jenkins Washington Post Since the crux of the tale is a teenager's decision about an unwanted pregnancy, "Lebanon, Pa." can't possibly please everyone. But Hickernell doesn't strain to be provocative. Rated: 2.5/4 May 13, 2011 Full Review Rex Reed Observer Not perfect, but vastly superior to most of the Hollywood dreck we've been getting lately, Lebanon, Pa. is a thoughtful and perceptive film well worth recommending. May 11, 2011 Full Review Diego Semerene Slant Magazine This is a plea for self-described indie filmmakers to stop utilizing hyper-polished technique to talk about human misery. Rated: 1.5/4 May 9, 2011 Full Review Tricia Olszewski Washington City Paper Starts off like a self-serious Garden State and ends up like a self-serious Juno. May 13, 2011 Full Review Eugene Novikov Cinematical An intriguing, beautiful film by a promising young director. May 11, 2011 Full Review Gary Thompson Philadelphia Daily News For the most part it's your classic character-driven movie - the antithesis of an "issue" drama - until a contentious issue surfaces that threatens to overwhelm the story. Audience Member ok lil com-dram indie Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Frances H A thought-provoking indie flick about the choices we make in life and how we can always change our direction. Well-acted and directed, this movie is an enjoyable change from fantastic action hero save the world Hollywood blockbusters, instead dealing with issues that everyday people really deal with in everyday life--something to which we can all relate. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 09/29/12 Full Review Audience Member I wanted it to be better. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Audience Member I actually liked this nice, touching, thought provoking little film. Made me smile at the end, and I like when movies do that. I really liked the scene where they set the boat free. There was something very comforting about that. Maybe I should try it.... Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member Well-paced, genuine, great balance of bittersweet. Earnest, but has its edges, too. All players hit it right (except CJ's Dad). Well done. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Audience Member awful, inaccurate (EVERYTHING about Lebanon, PA is wrong), boring, terribly acted, apparently every Christian (at at least Catholic) in Lebanon is a bigot and a moron, and truly, this movie just sucked. A train wreck from start to finish. I want my 100 minutes back. UGH. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/14/23 Full Review Read all reviews
