Noel Murray Los Angeles Times It’d be a reach to say that the movie has anything profound to say about preserving legacies and cultural traditions; but the father-daughter connection does make it easy to root for these humans as they fight off the hell-hordes. Jan 20, 2023 Full Review Lucas Moore JVS Media & Productions/Team JVS With a great mix of comedy and horror Legions always keeps you entertained even at times when it gets a little to silly. Rated: C + Aug 2, 2023 Full Review Carla Hay Culture Mix Legions tries too hard to be bizarre. The end result is a horror movie that isn't very scary. The visual effects are also very cheap-looking and tacky. The father-daughter sorcerer storyline isn't as interesting as it could have been. Mar 27, 2023 Full Review Chad Collins Dread Central Legions is a heartfelt, yet meandering, Evil Dead homage Rated: 3/5 Jan 26, 2023 Full Review Dennis Harvey 48 Hills The resulting mashup of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest and The Exorcist is fun, but doesn’t always seem certain just how seriously it means for us to take it, so the scares feel half-hearted. Jan 23, 2023 Full Review Alan French Sunshine State Cineplex Legions nearly earns cult classic status and still may be fun to return to in the years to come. However, every joke feels like it could have been bigger, and the scares are nearly non-existent. Rated: 5/10 Jan 20, 2023 Full Review Read all reviews

(ENGLISH) There are films marketed as horror that, from the very first scene, you know aren’t going in that direction. Legions is exactly that: a product that tries to sneak into the genre with demons and possessions, but ends up feeling more like a silly comedy than anything else. The script is childish, full of clumsy situations that never create fear or tension, more like sketches stretched out far too long. The biggest issue is that, while Argentinian horror cinema has delivered some surprises recently, here everything feels repetitive and lifeless. There’s no atmosphere, no suspense, nothing that keeps you on edge. Instead of building terror from its premise, the film throws in jokes that don’t land and humor that doesn’t fit the tone it pretends to have. Attempts to mix gore with comedy only highlight how weak the whole thing is. The CGI is poor, the practical effects don’t impress, and what could have worked as satire ends up sinking into the ridiculous. Even the father-daughter relationship that tries to bring some humanity falls flat, staying superficial and never truly moving. In short, Legions is a failed attempt at horror: neither scary nor funny. A careless mix that proves catching up with these kinds of releases can feel more like a punishment than a pleasure. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 11/23/25 Full Review Stephen G Such great atmosphere already in this film's opening, makes hope to ready yourself for who knows what type of evil madness to befall our characters. There is a generous amount of shamanism and ritualistic happenings so early on, that you can speculate things are going to get weird, wild, and crazy soon. The darkness is making its move, things look terribly terribly bad for our characters in its path. The light must find a way to defeat the onslaught of evil, or there will be death and mayhem.
