      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

Low-key to a fault, Let It Rain blends subtle political commentary with smart, thoroughly French comedy.

Nick Schager Lessons of Darkness Incapable of rising above mere pleasantness. Rated: C Oct 12, 2010 Full Review Michael O'Sullivan Washington Post Not a laugh riot, but neither is it played for melodrama. Rated: 2.5/4 Jul 23, 2010 Full Review Mick LaSalle San Francisco Chronicle It's graceful in presenting its ideas, and what emerges is not a polemic but a kind of snapshot of modern-day concerns. Audience Member Gentle comedy with a great cast. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Endearing Woody Allen-esque drama. Agnès Jaoui specialises in witty and intelligent romantic comedies and while this is not quite as good as her earlier film 'Le Goût des Autres', it is still an amusing enough way to spend 90 minutes and a few scenes with Bacri as a hapless film-maker are very funny indeed. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member La profondeur des personnages, et Bacri a contre-emploi, Tres drole et tres juste Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member A gentle tone, likeable characters, rural locations and unassuming narrative belies explorations on feminism, racism, misogyny and fidelity to name a few. Funny largely without being "laugh-out-loud" funny, and dramatic without being melodramatic, the film is satisfying and quietly moving and shows the universal truth that although most people want to change, few do, and when they do, it's in small gestures and kindnesses. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member not a lot really happens...but i enjoyed it well enough, and laughed quite a bit. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Very slow... Good cast, solid interpretation, a few funny and interesting moments, however when it ended I felt almost relieved.
