A deep-sea thriller with an unusually strong cast and potent ideas, Leviathan quickly plunges into an abyss of weak thrills and lame kills.

dan k my god. it s really bad. it really is. the acting, the set pieces, the cliches... even the monster. pity. stellar cast, fun premise, production value, wasted. the ending. everyone should be embarassed. 'say ah motherfucker...' Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 04/14/24 Full Review Jelisije J When you share the same premise as Alien then you really cant have a bad movie. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/21/24 Full Review Mick S It was slow, had weird unnatural dialogue, and is boring. This is the "Mom, can we watch Alien (1979)?" "No, we have Alien at home," of movies. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/09/24 Full Review Audience Member Do you like alien and the thing? Do you enjoy practical effects? Do you crack up at 80s cheese one liners? Then watch it. It’s not perfect, but the rotten tomatoes rating for this movie should be much higher. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/08/24 Full Review Jose R L I don't know why the low ratings. I've always liked this movie. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/13/24 Full Review Travis M In a world where Alien covenant exists how is this movie rated so low with fantastic character work, Stan Winston anamatronics, atmospheric music and stellar underwater filming. Janet Maslin New York Times The latter half of the film is one long feeding frenzy, guided by a familiar horror-film principle: survival of the best-looking. May 20, 2003 Full Review Richard Harrington Washington Post Leviathan is intermittently interesting, but it's a bad sign that the movie starts losing its punch when the monster shows up. Jan 1, 2000 Full Review Matt Brunson Film Frenzy The effects by Stan Winston are typically polished, even if the creature looks like the usual assemblage of teeth and tentacles.
