Critics Consensus

Life is just thrilling, well-acted, and capably filmed enough to overcome an overall inability to add new wrinkles to the trapped-in-space genre.

J. R. Jones Chicago Reader This sci-fi shocker sticks closely to the Alien playbook, down to the intimately acquainted, flatly characterized crew and the scenes of chaos, panic, and overlapping dialogue. Mar 26, 2020 Full Review Kristen Lopez Culturess It's familiar comfort food for those in need of gory goodness. Nov 20, 2017 Full Review Valerie Complex Affinity Magazine When compared to the cast of Alien, the ISS team isn't well-textured, developed, or likable. Rated: 2/5 Jun 10, 2017 Full Review Yasser Medina Cinefilia A dull and predictable science-fiction movie. [Full review in Spanish] Rated: 5/10 Aug 13, 2024 Full Review Keith Garlington Keith & the Movies I’m sure some of its logic could be picked apart if you’re into that kind of thing, but I enjoyed it as a taut, white-knuckle space thriller that looks great and absolutely nails it’s ending. That’s enough for me. Rated: 3.5/5 Aug 23, 2022 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review Aside from a few nerve-racking moments and, generally, professional production values, the film's derivative quality and deficient innovations create a run-of-the-mill outcome. lord b how does hackery like this get made? rich kids being producers that are too coked up to care? so bad it hurts Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/28/25 Full Review Audience Member Anytime I see a sci-fi movie where a crew of unsuspecting scientists test the life on mars....I get skeptical. This movie changed all that. It is equally as creepy and horrific. There was at least a few scenes that I had to not look at because of the gore and deep horror. The plot and premise is pretty straightforward, but where the story captivates you is in the clear danger the organism presents towards your survival. There is also a great plot twist at the end. I highly recommend this. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/21/25 Full Review Vishesh C Decent flick, could have been engaging and suspenseful. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/19/25 Full Review Michael K It's not terrible, but it's another Alien imitator. The problem with that is the story is the same old, same old story. If you want something to watch while you're busy, this is the one. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/13/25 Full Review Christopher C Kind of mediocre with a few flaws and the ending was subpar. Kind of can be summed up as a whole as just who and why would open the door and then they keep opening it for no other reason than to perpetuate the story. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/12/25 Full Review Scott T Got 30 minutes into it and realized it was an 'Alien' reboot. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/11/25 Full Review Read all reviews
