Critics Consensus

Lila & Eve gets some mileage out of its formidable stars, with Viola Davis in particular proving that she will commandingly commit to any material, but this is a revenge flick served stale due to a lackluster script.

Candice Frederick Reel Talk Online While it could have easily been a pretty great Lifetime movie of the week, what LILA & EVE has going for it is that it's not what you expect. Rated: B- Sep 1, 2017 Full Review Dwight Brown National Newspaper Publishers Association The footage rolls to an ending that is satisfying and makes the time it takes to watch this crime thriller evolve worth the effort. Lila & Eve will someday be a great cable movie. For right now it is a compelling indie film. Mar 15, 2017 Full Review Richard Roeper Chicago Sun-Times Davis (who was an executive producer on the film) gives a strong performance, as if she were acting in one of those many prestige projects lighting up her resume. It's a noble try, but this dreck is beyond saving. Rated: 2/4 Aug 14, 2015 Full Review Megan Burbank The Stranger (Seattle, WA) So okay, Lila & Eve is basically a Lifetime movie with better production values, or Fight Club starring middle-aged ladies (an improvement, if you ask me). But [Viola] Davis' performance just destroyed me. Aug 22, 2017 Full Review Lauren Le Vine Refinery29 Lila & Eve has all the makings of a cult hit. Jun 28, 2017 Full Review John Noonan FILMINK (Australia) ...tumbles off the rails long before the end credits roll. Rated: 10/20 Oct 24, 2016 Full Review Read all reviews

Shamika H This movie was amazing! The movie was not predictable at all. There are moments throughout the movie where you start to get pieces to the puzzle as the scenes playout. The movie does really well at addressing the importance of support groups and the reality of mental health, especially addressing trauma and the effects of experiencing it. I was pleasantly immersed in all of the captivating acting. This movie really gave you a feeling that it was true story, although, in a way, it kind of is to a certain degree. One of the main reasons that I believe that this movie has such a realistic take, is that in real life much of what is exposed in the movie is what is reality for people. Even the parts of the movie that were technically for the dramatic effect, it tugs on your heart because in a way we feel at times that we would probably do the same if were in the same position. I am trying my best to be vague when describing my opinion on this movie without giving away too much. I highly recommend everyone give this movie a chance with a clear mindset going in. I believe you will be delighted and not at all disappointed. For those that are disappointed, as you can see there are some negative reviews, everyone is entitled to their own opinion and have their own preferences and expectations of what they intended to get out of the movie, etc. I hope that you have enjoyed my honest critique and review of what I considered and piece of artistic film. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/13/24 Full Review donita v I enjoyed it. The twist were good and the writing. My Goddaughter guessed the plot too soon. She is going to Brown University in the Fall. Why, Viola, why? Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/22/24 Full Review carlos t Minha opinião: Uma mãe que fica incosolavel com a morte do filho. Vale apena assistir? Sim Nota: 6 Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Viola can act almost anything - but she doesn't have much to work with after her son is killed in a drug deal gone bad. She then meets Lopez at a mom's support group - but JLo takes her down a revenge road she really doesn't want to travel. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Read all reviews
