Summer 1985. As every year, Rodri leaves Catalonia and returns to his family village in Galicia, to meet up with his gang. However, this year is different for him and his friends. Real world problems begin to appear in their lives threatening to tear them apart. Holding on to the friendship that binds them together, the five friends plan to escape on the night of San Juan in search of a magical flower that, according to a legend, grows on top of a mountain and can make wishes come true. Their only wish now is to solve the problem of their friend in trouble and thus be able to continue together. An adventure that will make them grow through a fascinating way full of action, excitement and hope, and which will leave in their memories that summer in which "Live is Life" sounded in the background.

Brian Costello Common Sense Media This is an engaging coming-of-age dramedy with enough story and acting talent to overcome the familiar aspects to this "hero's journey." Rated: 4/5 Jul 28, 2022 Full Review Juan Pablo Russo EscribiendoCine De la Torre, a filmmaker accustomed to action and thrillers, steps out of his comfort zone and imbues his film with a bittersweet adventurous tone creating an effective melodrama... [Full review in Spanish] Rated: 6/10 Jul 20, 2022 Full Review Roger Moore Movie Nation Original only in the number of movies it cribs from. But it isn’t “Stand By Me,” it’s not really “Five Teens and a Baby,” and it sure as shooting isn’t “Goonies.” Rated: 2/4 Jul 19, 2022 Full Review Javier Estrada El Mundo (Spain) An adventure film that can almost be interpreted as 'Goonies in Spain'. [Full review in Spanish] Jun 3, 2022 Full Review David Pardillos Cinemanía (Spain) There is a sorrowful nostalgia in De la Torre's way of filming that is contagious to the boys and that... takes that rebellious and intense spirit to a place he knows well. angel g I was born in Barcelona in 1971, till 1981 going every summer in August to a small village in Lugo (Galicia) with my parents in a black & yellow taxi of my father, so I can see the story from the fellas from the city-viewpoint; and after 1981 we moved to the village and then we received the ‘veraneantes' from Madrid, Barcelona or Bilbao, so I can see it as well from the local fella perspective. I can tell you, I can remember myself and my friends in near every one of the adventures the characters experienced (but for the baby way too much of course)… 100% accurate in all its detail, language, texture, tone, rythm, strong feelings… amazingly real! Congratulatuions to the director and guionist for a magnificient piece of art, and for bringing me to my teenage years so vividly. And Thank You, because through your movie I will be able to share with my 17 year old son, how my summers were at his age. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review celia f Me ha gustado mucho ver ese increíble paisaje de los Cañones del Sil en una película familiar tan bonita y tierna. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review mario m a wonderful movie that reminds us how fun it was to be an adventurous teenager. It shows new generations that in the 80's without all the technology that we have nowadays, it was more fun, more personal. Beautiful cinematography thats showcases how beautiful spain countryside is, specially the region of Galicia. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Dave P Live Is Life is clearly inspired by Stand By Me, Bless the Beasts and Children, E.T., and probably many more kid quest movies; but I enjoyed it. The scenery in Spain was great, the kid actors very good. I don't get why main character Rodri was so hated back home -- maybe a class thing? -- I would have loved hanging out with this gang as a kid.
