Synopsis
To escape the bloody war for independence raging in his homeland of Algeria during the early 1960s, immigrant construction worker Lakhdar (Roschdy Zem) convinces the rest of his family to join him in France. But his shantytown existence among thousands of other poor immigrants is far from the paradise he made it seem to his wife, Nora (Fadila Belkebla), and as he struggles to find the money to buy his family a proper apartment, she becomes increasingly radicalized politically.
