Anton Bitel Sight & Sound love and death become the strangest of bedfellows in this riotously kooky tale. Jun 3, 2015 Full Review Ard Vijn ScreenAnarchy The acting fits this look, with people fully embracing their stereotypes, creating grotesque caricatures. Jan 10, 2020 Full Review M. Faust The Public (Buffalo) Liza the Fox-Fairy would be a perfect midnight film if that circuit still existed, and will probably appeal to that sizeable number of art house habitus whose all-time favorite film is Amlie. Oct 11, 2017 Full Review Diane Carson KDHX (St. Louis) When the men in her orbit can't seem to stay alive, Liza must consider whether she just might be the legendary Japanese fox-fairy in this unhinged, wonderful tale. Aug 28, 2017 Full Review Adrian Mack Georgia Straight The artifice-heavy Liza has been compared to Amlie, but its flip darkness comes from the same macabre (and much more eastern) vein as Czech fantasy Valerie and Her Week of Wonders. Sasha M This movie is an absolute delight!! I found it a bit slow in the very beginning, but quickly realized that the pace was necessary to truly enjoy the beauty in every single shot. If you love quirky humor, its definitely worth a watch. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Audience Member The beginning of such an offbeat film necessarily leaves one a little skeptical. Then, one is gradually taken by the strange atmosphere and the poetry of this finally refreshing work. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review gábor g Probably the best Hungarian movie of all times. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Actually it's more ? Delicatessen ? than ? Amélie ?. Generally fun, but somehow not compact enough. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Audience Member [2016-7-23] Interesting story, but it gets boring 20 mins later. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Audience Member A fresh film that got a different look and a nice approach. Liza, a nurse that's looking for her first love seem to be bound under a spell. Every man that catches interest is facing a certain death. Many interesting characters and an original tale that seem to have roots in an old Japanese fairy tale. Hungarian mixed with Japanese culture - sat 50 years back in time. Weird, funny and lovely shot film. Great colors and effects makes it very watchable. Playful, but maybe a bit to careless and off-point at times. I dug that Japanese singer - a very good sidekick in this very creative and inspiring film. 7 out of 10 Mekk Burger joints. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Read all reviews
