The artifice-heavy Liza has been compared to Amlie, but its flip darkness comes from the same macabre (and much more eastern) vein as Czech fantasy Valerie and Her Week of Wonders.

The beginning of such an offbeat film necessarily leaves one a little skeptical. Then, one is gradually taken by the strange atmosphere and the poetry of this finally refreshing work.

A fresh film that got a different look and a nice approach. Liza, a nurse that's looking for her first love seem to be bound under a spell. Every man that catches interest is facing a certain death. Many interesting characters and an original tale that seem to have roots in an old Japanese fairy tale. Hungarian mixed with Japanese culture - sat 50 years back in time. Weird, funny and lovely shot film. Great colors and effects makes it very watchable. Playful, but maybe a bit to careless and off-point at times. I dug that Japanese singer - a very good sidekick in this very creative and inspiring film. 7 out of 10 Mekk Burger joints.
