This film is based on the true story of Lois Gibbs (Marsha Mason), a housewife in Niagara Falls, N.Y., who spearheads her community's battle against Hooker Chemical. At first, her husband (Robert Gunton) dismisses the idea that an old chemical dump site beneath their 36-block neighborhood has anything to do with a rash of child ailments. But Gibbs perseveres, circulating a petition, accepting the role of head of the Homeowners Association and leading a fierce legal battle for compensation.

Audience Member Philip made me watch this after seeing Erin Brockovich while I was on vacation. (Yes, my husband raids my girl movies while I am gone) Anyway, I thought it was really good considering that it was made for tv. Definitely worth watching. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member I decided to Netflix this after seeing Erin Brockovich. Similar in a lot of ways. Not bad for an '80s made-for-TV movie. And in case you didn't know, the environmental contamination depicted in Erin Brockovich (Hinkley, CA) pales in comparison to what happened in Love Canal (Niagara Falls, NY). Read up on it sometime and watch this film if you can find it... Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Read all reviews
