Roger Ebert Chicago Sun-Times The Bronson screen presence, used intelligently, can be unsettling and fascinating. So why is it so often ignored or thrown away? Rated: 1.5/4 Oct 23, 2004 Full Review Eddie Harrison film-authority.com …an ideal introduction to Charles Bronson…as a real downbeat, nihilistic stream behind the glamour; it’s a big A-list movie that somehow settles for being an effective B feature… Rated: 3/5 Mar 12, 2024 Full Review Emanuel Levy EmanuelLevy.Com Rated: 2/5 Jul 17, 2005 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member John Huston was originally going to direct Charles Bronson and Jill Ireland in this movie, working from a script by Wendell Mayes, the writer of Death Wish as well as From Hell to Texas and The Poseidon Adventure. Huston worked for some time on the film, but a mixture of illness and creative issues led to him leaving and being replaced by Stuart Rosenberg (The Amityville Horror, Voyage of the Damned). Charlie Congers (Bronson) has been assigned to bring gangster Joe Bomposa's (Rod Steiger) girlfriend Jackie Pruitt (Jill Ireland) back to the U.S. so that she can testify what she knows. The truth is, she knows nothing, but that doesn't mean that Bomposa won't take her out and the FBI won't hang both her and Congers out to dry. This movie was produced by Lew Grade's ITC Entertainment, which spent millions on movies like The Legend of the Lone Ranger, Movie Movie, Raise the Titanic, The Golden Gate, Escape to Athena, The Golden Gate and Road to the Fountain of Youth with Bing Crosby and Bob Hope (the last two of these went unmade). The only two of their movies that made money were The Boys from Brazil and The Muppet Movie. Bronson would make two more movies for ITC, Borderline and The Evil That Men Do. It's not the best of Bronson's movies, but it does have lots of great character actors in it, like Strother Martin, Bradford Dillman, Henry Silva and Paul Koslo. Not that it mattered to Bronson, who was a success on this no matter what, as he made $1.5 million, a percentage of the film's profits, a role for his wife and the traveling expenses for an entourage of more than fourteen people and the blended Bronson-Ireland family. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member This little seen action movie, one of a package done for British producer Lew Grade, starts out fine, then goes in the wrong direction with a budding romance between Bronson and Ireland's characters. Instead of focusing on a showdown between Steiger's mobster and Bronson's cop, the film piddles around building the character's backstories. Waste of Charlie's considerable star power and an excellent supporting cast. Ireland is unwatchable in most likely the worst performance of her acting career. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Undercover detective Charlie Rogers has been specifically chosen to rescue the ex mistress of the highly sort after mastermind behind an organised European crime network - Joe Bomposa. Once he has her he can then convict Bomposa and put him away for good. He has only to get the girl and get out of Europe, alive! stars Charles Bronson, Rod Steiger, Jill Ireland, Strother Martin, Bradford Dillman, Michael Vincente Gazzo, Henry Silva, Paul Koslo, Sam Chew Jr. , Val Avery, William Gray Espy, Andy Romano, Robin Clarke, Clifford A. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member Bronson as a cop in charge of protecting a mobster's bimbo girlfriend who is a key witness in the effort to put him away. I have liked Ireland much better in some other collaborations with Bronson. Has a good end and clever exit for Henry Silva. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review dave j Monday, October 15, 2012 (1979) Love And Bullets ACTION European production starring the Charles Bronson character protecting the Jill Ireland character playing an eyewitness being pursued by hitman hired by gang lord. The action bits is sort of like a homage to a James Bond film but throughout the whole time one wonders how come Charles Bronson doesn't pick up any of the the assassins guns after he succeeds in taking them out. 2 out of 4 Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Bronson as a cop in charge of protecting a mobster's bimbo girlfriend who is a key witness in the effort to put him away.
