(This was based on unsubstantiated, anecdotal news stories from the '90s.) The experimental filmmaking is interesting at times, but too showoffy at others. Check out the babyfaced Tadanobu Asano. Director Anno uses his cameras in a variety of innovative and unusual techniques and angles. One schoolgirl desperate to buy a ring is about to find out the seedier side of life and go in too deep when she goes on various dates with weird men.
