"Love and Pop" is a very interesting film, in a style reminiscent of Sion Sono to many, and definitely deserves a watch, particularly to the viewer that can see the social commentary beyond the perversions and the unusual visual approach.

Love & Pop is a moderately engaging film based on the dubious premise Japanese high school girls engage in prostitution to pursue mindless consumerism. (This was based on unsubstantiated, anecdotal news stories from the '90s.) The experimental filmmaking is interesting at times, but too showoffy at others. Check out the babyfaced Tadanobu Asano.

Disturbing Japanese movie about the outlawed practice of compensation dating (men that pay schoolgirls for their company). Director Anno uses his cameras in a variety of innovative and unusual techniques and angles. One schoolgirl desperate to buy a ring is about to find out the seedier side of life and go in too deep when she goes on various dates with weird men. Some might find this movie boring but I thought it was quite good and creative.
