Audience Member A low budget, cliche, and over the top film that requires an abnormal amount of suspension of belief. Lovebirds follows the first IRL meeting of Mario, a young Filipino man, and Alexis, the Spanish man he's been dating online for an unknown amount of time. Mario is closeted, both to his family about his orientation, and his boyfriend about being closeted. This causes a great deal of trouble when Alexis informs him that he's coming to visit. Confused, Mario tells his family of the upcoming visit, but not his romantic partners gender. Despite how convoluted the premise, the overall story is fairly uncomplicated. As the determined Alexis continues to pursue and woo the anxious Mario, most everything falls into place with only the expected drama. A great movie for a cozy afternoon.
