Audience Member This movie was good - not Amber's best work, especially after Chance - but it had its laughs. The acting was mostly good and the plot enticing. It's not deep or meaningful, but that doesn't mean it wasn't good fun. Rainy Sunday afternoon quality :) Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member Good film (Well done Amber Benson) Met her last yr and got my copy singed :) She's a luvly bubbly outgoin women. Wish the Benson entertainment INC all the best and can't wait for more films. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member I adore Amber Benson, I really do, but this is awful. The blurb on the back of the DVD states that <i>Lovers, Liars & Lunatics</i> is a "dark screwball comedy". But there's nothing remotely witty, zany or disturbing here. The script is truly inept and brings down any good work from the sometimes inventive direction. Line reading after line reading is delivered in 'first rehearsal' non-feeling, the script sounding like it was written in one evening the night before a deadline for a homework assignment. Performances range from middling to downright awful, and Benson herself is wretched, her sandwich-short-of-a-picnic character annoying as hell, and the snail-like pacing makes the film a chore to get through. Benson probably invested a huge amount of time, effort and personal finance in order to get her film made. Perhaps next time she should hire a writer and spread herself a little less thin.
