Hawk P @Lovemovietheatres 2d Enjoyed the movie! A little girl standing firm in her beliefs even though the townspeople bully, belittle, and berate her. Her Grandfather guides her through that anxiety which leads to a surprising ending! A perfect story to young and old that believing in yourself is powerful! Loved the interactions especially in the bar scene! Residing close to Lake Champlain, looking forward to the sequel! See more THOMAS I @RT36956994 3d A heartwarming story for audiences of all ages. Can’t wait for the sequel(s)! See more Christian R @RT77094241 3d Winner of over 30 film festival awards, a must-see for anyone who's had a close relationship with a grandparent and imagination. Lucy, 8, (Emma Pearson in an impressive debut), believes in Champ, the lake monster of Lake Champlain, which borders New York & Vermont. (Much like C.S. Lewis Narnia series, this works as a family story for the children in us all, but also Champ is a spiritual symbol). In a nuanced and tender performance, Writer-Director Richard Rossi portrays "Papa," Lucy's guitar-playing grandpa who lives a simple life off the grid in a cabin on the lake. Together, Papa and Lucy set out on his rickety rowboat to search for Champ. Lucy is persecuted by bullies for believing in Champ. A villain couple, Beezel and her boyfriend Mercenary Mike seek to capture Champ for profit. The film, shot on a modest budget by D.P. Daniel Burke, captures the beauty of New York and upstate Vermont. A magical, G-rated film that is refreshing to see in an era in which such films are rare. See more Read all reviews
