What to Know

Critics Consensus

LX 2048 tries grounding its sci-fi conceit in relatable family dynamics, but is ultimately too thinly sketched and narratively diffuse to work.

Leslie Felperin Guardian [A] quirky, low-budget science-fiction feature... Rated: 3/5 Jan 19, 2021 Full Review Tasha Robinson Polygon Guy Moshe's dystopic science-fiction movie LX 2048 feels particularly timely and on-point, essentially channeling the nightly climate-change news (floods, hurricanes, wildfires, and so forth) into a wry, fantastical form. Oct 14, 2020 Full Review Christy Lemire FilmWeek (KPCC - NPR Los Angeles) I enjoyed it, but man -- there's a lot going on, and maybe too much. Sep 30, 2020 Full Review Kelechi Ehenulo FILMHOUNDS Magazine Perhaps it would have worked better as a TV show. Because there's no escaping the wasted potential in LX 2048, where the confidence is evident in its themes, but not in its convoluted execution. Rated: 2/5 Jan 27, 2021 Full Review Rachael Harper SciFiNow LX 2048 is much more than its (neverless brilliant) concept -- it's a deep dive into what it means to be human. Rated: 4/5 Jan 23, 2021 Full Review Susan Granger www.susangranger.com So predictable and formulaic that it should appeal only to dystopian sci-fi enthusiasts. Christopher M Another movie where you simply do not listen to the critical reviews which are split anyway. Plethora of ideas with what I thought was a gripping plot, well acted with impressive production. Far from misogynist, it shows man's struggle and our vulnerability to technology. oh, and money hungry ex wives! A film totally about connection. Ending left me thinking. Perfect movie for sci-fi fans who like to think! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/23/23 Full Review Renee C This is an awesome take on Hamlet and if you don't get it then...faaaaaaaak, we are not going to make it as a species. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 09/23/23 Full Review Audience Member Extremely forgetable. If fact, even watching it for the first time I kept wondering if I saw this on a place three years ago. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member If one enjoys dystopian cautionary tales then they shouldn't have much problem with this. Could this ever happen to human civilization? If everyone ‘does their part' then it eventually will. It does seem to have a lot of similarities to other sci-fi films but the overall plot focus seems off a tad and there's a lot of mundane dialogue that's kinda hard to follow. Not devoid of redeemable qualities though. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review robert p Boring, Boring, Boring! Sorry but I just could not get into the mood to watch this movie when so much else were out there to watch!! Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member The ambiance is spot on, but often times it's difficult to tell if the bad acting is all part of the story, or if it really is that bad.
