Critics Consensus

The Road Warrior is everything a bigger-budgeted Mad Max sequel with should be: bigger, faster, louder, but definitely not dumber.

Pauline Kael The New Yorker We may not feel crummy after the movie, but we feel hollow... The Road Warrior is for boys who want to go around slugging each other on the shoulder and for men who wish that John Wayne were alive and fifty again. Sep 19, 2023 Full Review Dwight Brown Sepia This one is destined to be a box-office smash. Aug 10, 2022 Full Review Richard Corliss TIME Magazine Exhilarating entertainment -- and a textbook for sophisticated, popular moviemaking. Aug 25, 2008 Full Review Akhil Arora AkhilArora.com The worldbuilding is possibly its biggest accomplishment, as you can start to see the elements of the wasteland take shape. May 31, 2024 Full Review Cory Woodroof For the Win (USA Today) The ferocious second installment brought Miller’s uncanny ability to mount action sequences to center stage with an immensely satisfying sequel. May 29, 2024 Full Review Alan French Sunshine State Cineplex Crafting “The Wasteland” and the aesthetic of the franchise, Miller took a huge step forward with the franchise. His action direction remains spectacular, and the editing techniques forever changed action cinema. Rated: 9/10 May 23, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews

Dionisis T One of the greatest mad max movies in my opinion! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 11/03/24 Full Review Audience Member A + This is the perfect sci-fi movie. Great story, great cast, great action. This is a perfect movie for sci-fi fans. No post-apocalyptic movie compares. All the Mad Max movies are good— it’s quite possibly the best franchise with more than 3 movies. And this is the best of the bunch, although Fury Road hits higher notes in some areas. George Miller needs a star in Hollywood if he doesn’t have one. The dude is a genius. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/22/24 Full Review Audience Member A big improvement from the original (which really isn’t worth watching). Borderline iconic post-apocalyptic film with some well designed sets and characters. The vehicle chase scenes are top notch and an epic conclusion. The movie that made Mel Gibson a star. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 09/19/24 Full Review Kenneth L While looking a bit dated by modern standards, this movie still holds up as a classic for a reason. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/08/24 Full Review Brad M Awesome movie! The post apocalyptic scenery was cool even now. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/20/24 Full Review Read all reviews
