Mattie Lucas From the Front Row First and foremost a love story between Marie and her husband Pierre, but LeRoy wisely blends their burgeoning and deepening love into the wonder of scientific discovery. Rated: 3/4 Jun 23, 2021 Full Review Elena de la Torre Cine-Mundial Has exceptional merit. [Full review in Spanish] Sep 13, 2019 Full Review Emanuel Levy EmanuelLevy.Com With an eye on the Oscars, this typical MGM biopic of the 1940s, a chronicle of the famous French scientists, is middlebrow and inspirational, teaming for the third time Greer Garson and Walter Pidgeon. Rated: B- Mar 25, 2009 Full Review David Nusair Reel Film Reviews ...undone by its emphasis on scientific matters and unmistakable Oscar-bait sort of vibe. Audience Member It was alright, the heroine is the perfect woman of course like in every old movie who never gets mad or "acts out of line." I did like how they explore her scientific though process and the romance btw her and pierre. It was remarkable how hard they both worked for science. Also, for the time, interesting to see a film made about a woman scientist. I just didn't find the film very interesting, but it did stick to the facts about her and Pierre (simple but good people who wouldn't accept money/fame for their achievements). film is missing subtitles very annoying as well. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/15/23 Full Review david l Madame Curie is a solid, albeit somewhat lifeless biopic. The lives of the Curie couple were just never interesting enough for the cinematic treatment, resulting in a slow, overlong drama that with the exception of the central romance failed to ignite the spark. It's a technically uninspired movie also, but the scientific scenes were moving as was the romantic dialogue. The acting performances from Walter Pidgeon and especially the great Greer Garson were the real highlights here. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review steve d Powerful in every aspect of the film. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member The best inspiring movie ever made! With the best movie character ever portrayed: Greer Garson as Marie Curie! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review ashley h Madame Currie is an amazing film. It is about Marie who is an impoverished student living in Paris. Greer Garson and Walter Pidgeon give excellent performances. The screenplay is well written. Mervyn LeRoy did a great job directing this movie. I enjoyed watching this motion picture because of the drama and romance. Madame Curie is a must see. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member A story everyone should be familiar with, even if this version is slightly whitewashed by the author - the Curie's younger daughter that didn't get her own Nobel. Such a wonderful cast! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
