might be regarded either as straight (if incoherent) slice and dice, or as a subjective insight into a damaged woman's psychotic meltdown. It works either way, but is richer and more satisfying if viewed as an early prelude to the The Babadook. Go to Full Review

justin t 02/17/2022 It looks quite soft. There is a lot of distortion from the wide angle lenses they used. But overall I liked the cinemascope aspect ratio and the movement was pretty. It reminded me of The House of the Devil (2009) to look at. It was quite an empty soundstage with little atmosphere and sparse music. Plenty of dialogue which was thankfully well dubbed. The music was a bit retro eighties bad. The level varied wildly between scenes. It had a really good horror story and a good tone. It is a slasher movie but with a cool story. If the technical aspects were better I would score this higher. See more 05/15/2021 Nursery rhymes and twin sisters, rocking chairs and deaf kids. Wild over-acting, false jumps, unsurprising twist and fucking nasty dog - and a comedy Japanese handyman! Bloody deaths and crazy laughter. Standard horror fare with some nice deaths, a crazy twin and a bit with the dog doing The Shining. There's some pretty charming characters, and an interesting (if somewhat incoherent) storyline. The ending was not what I was expecting. See more 04/28/2015 I really enjoyed this slasher type movie. Pretty decent story although some very sad scenes...namely the little deaf boy that gets killed by the dog. While the evil twin sister's motives and goals are pretty well defined, the true protagonist is left unexplained. We know who the person is, but not why certain actions are performed. Very well acted overall, and very moody. See more 10/27/2012 Banned in the UK way back but seemed relatively tame after I just watched Saw. A disturbed priest throws a 25th birthday party with corpses as guests for a woman and her twin sister who suffers from a disfiguring virus and holds childhood grudges. See more Read all reviews
