Attorney Amit (Amitabh Bachchan) is hired by former convict Vikram Singh (Amjad Khan) to mediate a business dispute with his ex-partner Rajan (Sujit Kumar). When the heated negotiations lead Vikram to murder Rajan, Amit -- whose wife, Janki (Waheeda Rehman), is pregnant with twins -- is wrongfully accused of the act and goes into hiding. Now, with one of Janki's sons kidnapped by a childless couple, Amit must try to clear his name and reunite his family against impossible odds.
