Audience Member a different perspective on war Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member Watched at Picturehouse. A good movie about moral, survival, war, etc. Too bad not much people appreciate it. Only 5 person in the cinema. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Audience Member After a couple of misfires, the Hollywood enhanced Warriors Of Heaven And Earth and Hong Kong digression Sweet Revenge, He Ping is back in fine style with period piece Wheat. Structured in near chamber play fashion and with a classical, almost Aeschylean, grip on the tragedy of the drama, Wheat carries a powerful anti-war message without concessions to heroism or Chinese neo-patriotism. Self-confessed Western fan He playfully sprinkles his movie with some great Sergio Leone moments, supervised by cinematographer Zhao Xiao-Shi who really knows how to make use of the gorgeous geographic locations. With such an odd couple as main protagonists one could easily imagine Wheat turning into a comedy, but thanks to He's assured direction the drama thankfully never tips over in that direction. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Audience Member it's mixed with a little comedy but overall, it tries too hard to be artistic.. the plot is simple and slightly draggy.. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Audience Member Great photographic skills, but lack deeper meanings. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member its performance is like the stage drama. the story is very simple, but also transmitted woman's strength and metaphorical desire. artistic designing of the movie is not bad. Fan Bing Bing is very beautiful in this movie. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
