In this unique romantic melodrama, the tempestuous romance of struggling playwright Tony Monaco (Tom Morton) and wide-eyed young actress Mary Craig (Mary Murphy) plays out against the backdrop of 1950s Broadway, with many stars of the era playing themselves. Wanting to write a mainstream hit show, Tony follows Mary to her small Indiana hometown, where her cheerful family life is alien to his hard-boiled New York City roots and a clean-cut local boy (Herb Shriner) might steal Mary's heart.
