Unfortunately, the film doesn't give enough for the viewer to feel a connection, so there is no investment on our part, just mere detachment and a "Oh, she's back where she started," before the embracing of a blank screen.

As a vignette of a casual but potentially life-changing encounter between two dissimilar people it has some charm, though while it delivers a genuine sense of place, it doesn't delve very deep emotionally.

I really enjoyed this film. Having hiked the PCT a few years back, there are so many intricacies to trail “families” and who you choose to hike with. It felt really realistic and was super compelling - even with how “slow” the story was. Highly recommend.

Quiet but powerful performances by Costa and Mann. Bluebird (Costa) felt compelled to unload Lake (Mann) because the relationship was becoming too real in terms of emotion. Her journey was one of single minded determination and self-despair. His was one of need for a purposeful connection that was missing throughout his life. The ending was very interesting, with Bluebird’s situation echoed in the words of the last driver, and the flip flop of who actually returned to the trail.

Poignant, enchanting film. Well-acted, shot, and memorable. This film is more about inner drama than the technicalities of hiking, though you see much of the latter. Really enjoyed this. This film may haunt your thoughts for a long time.
