See more Dennis Q Aug 28 Rotten tomatoes is such shite these days - the scores are all out of whack. This movie, while assuredly bad, absolutely does not deserve such a paltry rating as 18%. Everyone here saying so is just plain silly - don’t listen to them. When measured against the fathoms of god-awful horror movie offerings on Netflix and other streaming sites, I’d actually rate this one a bit ahead of the pack. Florence Pugh puts the team on her back with this one and delivers a characteristic gritty and determined performance. The story, while not action packed, is actually well paced; the director made a valiant effort to build tension, and dynamic characters, providing us with a half decent story arc. There was one or 2 spooky moments (more than I can say of 90% of horrors out there), no reliance on jump scares, and an ending that ACTUALLY feels like closure, as opposed to so many other b movie horrors that completely bail on their premise and don’t tie up any loose ends. To be clear, I’m not claiming this movie is *good*, just that it’s better than most in its genre and phenotype. I’d give it a 65% on here. See more Read all reviews
