I love a good mystery. This one unfolded slowly with an unexpected ending. Not the ending I might have hoped for, but clearly not formulaic. So it held my interest and was entertaining.

A pretty color pallet and solid cinematography helped this slow-burn of a thriller move into the mid-(70s). Pepe Serna as Sheriff Paul Del Moral became more likeable as the movie progressed. Ayako Fujitani was a little bland at first, but eventually came into her own. Many reveals throughout, some more satisfying than others. A pleasantly shocking twist. Oh, and there are turtles.

just finished watching man from Reno.. it is a movie almost too awful to describe. unlikable characters in comic, incompetent detection. I find it hard to believe that critics and other viewers gave this movie the rating they did.
