Les N I avoided this for over 40 years. Like a bad soap opera and an example of everything that was wrong with Aussie cinema back then (eg. getting yank actors to hold up a movie). It's no surprise that Burlinson never went on to become a world renowned actor and Gibson did. Bob Thomas Associated Press The Man from Snowy River is worth a small "yippee!" It's a real honest-to-goodness western, the likes of which haven't been seen in these parts for a long spell. Oct 22, 2018 Full Review Roger Ebert Chicago Sun-Times Why not make the story more realistic, deal with the characters as people, and stop trying to get cute? Rated: 2.5/4 Oct 23, 2004 Full Review Nell Minow Movie Mom Rated: 4/5 Dec 16, 2003 Full Review Leigh Paatsch Herald Sun (Australia) The late, great Kirk Douglas fronts an enjoyably rustic take on a classic Aussie yarn. Rated: 3/5 Apr 20, 2020 Full Review Diego Galán El Pais (Spain) The fundamental spectacle of the film can be found in its landscapes, color, images, and the camera's tricks. The story lacks courage, but it doesn't bore us. [Full Review in Spanish] Aug 30, 2019 Full Review Andrew L.
