MARMALADE is an edge-of-the-seat crime-tinged romance tale. Recently incarcerated Baron (Joe Keery) strikes up a friendship with cellmate Otis (Aldis Hodge), a man with a well-versed history of prison breaks. As the pair hatch an escape plan together, Baron recalls the story of how he met Marmalade (Camila Morrone), the love of his life, and their "Bonnie and Clyde" style scheme to rob a bank in order to care for his sick mother and give the couple the life they've always dreamed of.

Anton Bitel Little White Lies half the fun of in writer/director Keir O’Donnell’s genre-twisting romantic noir/escapist road movie is puzzling out where and how exactly the truth lies. Feb 19, 2024 Full Review Monica Castillo RogerEbert.com Keir O'Donnell’s delightful feature debut “Marmalade” is the kind of comedy that zigs when you expect it to zag, like a carnival ride that catches you by surprise. Rated: 3/4 Feb 12, 2024 Full Review Ben Kenigsberg New York Times In essence, "Marmalade" pretends to be more dunderheaded than it is, then acts as if it's been smart all along, in a shift that takes it from insulting to incoherent. Feb 8, 2024 Full Review Joshua Ryan FandomWire Marmalade loses steam in the third act due to a misguided need to interject twists and turns that undermine the strong efforts of it’s first hour. Jul 8, 2024 Full Review Connor Lightbody Loud and Clear Reviews while the screenplay is desperate for another pass to help Marmalade make sense of itself, the entire film has this unapologetic and unrelenting sense of confident gusto Rated: 3.5/5 Jul 4, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews

Patrick Exciting, fun twists, funny, looks beautiful and filled with great performances. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/11/24 Full Review J. A filmmaker with an original vision and a boldness to subvert expectations and take big swings. ODonnell gets some truly amazing performances from his leads and empowers them to break away from what the audience expects them to do based on their past roles. The cinematography, score and art direction are exceptional and make the modest budget blossom to a heroic potential. The writing is nuanced and over all its definitely worth repeat viewings. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/11/24 Full Review Giorgio G What an odd flick. It mainly just dribbles along, even making you to fast-forward over some parts as at least the first half simply doesn't get to the point. What finally makes this movie interesting and strangely charming is the last third which pretty much flips the whole storyline upside down. It's not a must-see, but the last 30 minutes give you enough joy to while away an hour and a half. 5/10 points! Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/24/25 Full Review DL W Terrible. Boring. Typical. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 12/26/24 Full Review Alisha D A creative premise that, unfortunately, wasn't executed to its full potential, despite the inventive twist. The ending felt rushed and unrealistic. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/25/24 Full Review Junior M O pior filme que vi esse ano disparado, que roteiro pobre e cheio de conveniências, de um amadorismo brutal.
