CHRIS M I saw it a theater as a teen back in the early 1970s, and several times (chopped up on broadcast TV, again in a theater in college) since then. I agree with those who say some what over rated. Professional critics called it a "dark comedy", too dark for me. Great opening scene with the (for historians of that war at least) the famed Bell Angel of Mercy helicopters. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 04/04/24 Full Review Jeffrey P Never mentioned as a film that wouldn't get made today despite the fact that it wouldn't get made today, so that raises it a few notches in my book. If you can deal with that, you should be able to enjoy this due to strong performances in a unique setting with captivating incidents from beginning to end, despite the lack of a plot. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/24/24 Full Review Audience Member One of the worst and most overrated movies ever made. It’s like Cheech & Chong in 1970 as Army surgeons in 1951. The football game at the end is about 20 minutes of Keystone cops absurdity that is beyond pointless. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/24/24 Full Review craig p Some of these war theme movies are either liked or disliked, it seems like it's always 50=50. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 12/26/23 Full Review Elver C M.A.S.H is definitely a product of its time, well acted, and with a very funny third act, however, its scattered and all-over-the-place editing, made the viewer feel that the pacing is slow and almost border lining boring making the movie hard to follow and also considering that the script is basically a series of sketches glued together. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 06/19/23 Full Review Christopher B Boring. It's like a movie with A.D.D. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 05/28/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Wendy Ide Times (UK) ... Riotously funny and rather bleak. Nov 29, 2022 Full Review Myles Standish St. Louis Post-Dispatch It is ribald, cruel, sick, sacrilegious, offensive and enormously funny, continuously and wildly hilarious. Mar 27, 2020 Full Review John Mahoney Hollywood Reporter The finest American comedy since Some Like It Hot, the Mr. Roberts of the Korean War, The Graduate of 1970, and the film that has been expected from director Robert Altman for some short time. Jan 25, 2018 Full Review Rob Gonsalves Rob's Movie Vault At best it’s a snapshot of where young America’s heads were at back then. Rated: C Aug 30, 2022 Full Review Eddie Harrison film-authority.com Altman's original movie revels in misogyny, racism, prankster humour and very outdated attitudes; it really should not be watchable in 2021, but it is...
