Diana S Bad in so many ways. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 12/23/23 Full Review French C Not sure where all of the negative reviews come from. This was a fairly unsettling movie which brought with it an original and intriguing concept. I would recommend to any fan of horror, particularly fans of cult horror. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 10/10/23 Full Review Joseph K This is a highly underrated horror flick. Im kinda shocked at the audience re Irish. This movie is something different and unique and it carries a dread so deep i don't commonly see. the ending is fantastical and lovecraftian. Thats all ill say. Just try it with an open mind, its good stuff Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/26/23 Full Review Tyler B Walking a fine line between reality and limbo until the very end. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 08/12/23 Full Review Jason K A solid Cthulhu-based modern parable. Good acting. Solid storyline. 85 minutes = no fluff. Although I can see how typical audiences may be weirded out more than horrified, especially if not aware of or appreciative of Lovecraftian horror. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 06/27/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Randy Myers San Jose Mercury News Stein’s macabre story is an original one that’ll tie you up in knots and leave you wrung out. This is about as dark as it gets. Rated: 3/4 Oct 26, 2022 Full Review Meagan Navarro Bloody Disgusting Steiner’s debut bites off a bit more than it can chew with its narrative, but its striking horror imagery sticks with you. Rated: 2.5/5 Oct 24, 2022 Full Review Noel Murray Los Angeles Times Steiner’s film shrewdly shifts back and forth between the real physical threat of dark supernatural forces and the more elusive harm done by a lifetime of bad parenting. Oct 21, 2022 Full Review Josh Bell Crooked Marquee Methodically paced and atmospheric, it erupts into glorious, graphic weirdness in the finale, and Steiner expertly navigates the tonal shifts. Dec 20, 2022 Full Review Jorge Loser Espinof The whole of Matriarch leaves a better imprint than the sum of its ideas... [Full review in Spanish] Rated: 3.5/5 Nov 21, 2022 Full Review Mary Beth McAndrews Dread Central Despite tonal inconsistencies, director Ben Steiner makes an admirable folk horror effort with his film ‘Matriarch’.
