      Critics Consensus

Jason Statham and Ben Foster turn in enjoyable performances, but this superficial remake betrays them with mind-numbing violence and action thriller cliches.

Legendaryrey y It's awesome it has a lot of action. Vale apena assistir? Sim para quem gosta de ação. Nota: 6,5 Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/09/24 Full Review Pongo K I think this is a good movie. It is worth the time, good action, and sophisticated. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/08/24 Full Review Jelisije J A soulless remake of the original that is boring, predictable, and the one twist that does happen makes the main character look like an idiot. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/13/24 Full Review Dev F Watching on a muggy Saturday morning with a hot cup of coffee is good and requires no emotional investment. Jason Statham delivers as usual, even though bland and too stoic at times. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/03/24 Full Review Diana M Arthur Bishop is a "Mechanic" a professional assassin with a strict code. Bishop is the best of the best and he takes pride in his work, carefully planning each job down to the smallest detail. He specializes in making his hits look like accidents. "Pulling a trigger is easy. The best jobs are the ones nobody even knows you were there." - Bishop Then Bishop discovers that his next target is his mentor and friend Harry, he reluctantly kills Harry and makes it look like a carjacking, but later discoverers that not all is as is should be. Bishop's handler used him.... and the hit on Harry was a set up. Now Bishop is out for revenge. Things get really complicated when Harry's son (Steve) wants to avenge his father and ask Bishop to teach him the trade. But Steve is impulsive, inexperienced, undisciplined, and a bit of a hot-headed. What begins as a relentless killer team, the Assassin/Mentor partnership slowly becomes a deadly one. Jason Statham is really awesome as the quite, deadly killer for hire who takes on a young protege. The story is well paced and the action is old school. No CGI, just cool no holds barred, frantic, brutal, and bloody stuff. Just a very entertaining assassin/mentor popcorn flick. Cast - Jason Statham, Ben Foster, Tony Goldwyn, Donald Sutherland, James Logan, Mini Andén, Jeff Chase, Christa Campbell Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/11/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Shubhra Gupta The Indian Express The Mechanic gets a low score even by the abysmal standards set by Statham and the kinds of films he assembly-lines. Rated: 1.5/5 Apr 3, 2019 Full Review Leah Rozen TheWrap Statham, he of the chiseled physique and sexily receding hairline, holds his own here, doing what he has to in scenes and no more -- which is perfect for a movie like this. Oct 7, 2011 Full Review Una LaMarche Observer The Mechanic is like a Beretta loaded with blanks -- quick and brutal but ultimately empty.
