Ben Sachs Chicago Reader [Honre'] does succeed, though, in conveying the joy of storytelling, which has made Ovid's work endure; the engagingly knotty structure is full of playful digressions and tales within tales. Apr 20, 2017 Full Review Diego Semerene Slant Magazine In Metamorphoses, writer-director Christophe Honor tries to domesticate, if not neuter, the strangeness of Ovid's classic tales. Rated: 1.5/4 Mar 23, 2017 Full Review Jonathan Romney Film Comment Magazine Honor's film aspires to be inclusive, even encyclopedic-through myth, to speak about the whole of the human condition today as Ovid spoke about it in his time. Mar 6, 2015 Full Review Dustin Chang Floating World Playful, dirty, edgy and wondrous in its micro-economic way, Metamorphoses works as it is intended to- a beautiful, dreamy poetry in accordance with the spirit of French New Wave. Feb 14, 2021 Full Review Dustin Chang ScreenAnarchy An absolute blast to experience, Christophe Honoré's film is dreamy poetry, an ode to youth. Jul 17, 2020 Full Review Charlotte Harrison VultureHound Every single scene features nudity or outdoor sex act... It becomes rather redundant and detrimental to the storytelling. Part way through I even had the very British thought of, "All right love, put it away!" Jan 27, 2020 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member Dull, pretentious nonsense. At this point in my reviews I usually provide an objective summary of the initial plot, before launching into my view of the movie. That is impossible with this movie as there is no discernible plot. Apparently the movie is about gods walking on earth and frolicking / toying with humans. That much is consistent with what I saw, but that provides the background to the plot, at best. Beyond that, there's nothing. Quite random and nonsensical. One scene doesn't seem to follow from another. If each scene is a mini-story, they're pretty boring, pointless, inconclusive stories. Which would sum up the entire movie - boring, pointless and inconclusive. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review joe m The re-telling of various stories from Greek mythology set in modern day southern France. A bunch of gratuitous nudity for titillation, yet other than that pretty boring. Give it a pass. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Christophe Honoré's modern interpretation of Ovid's . It doesn't make any narrative sense, it's all about stream of consciousness. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member The guy that plays Zeus ( Jupiter) is the worst!
