Howard H Interested and incohesive at times... Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/15/24 Full Review Audience Member Midnight Cop is one of the most bizarre and tonally muddled films I've seen recently. The movie is supposed to be a cliche'd story about a down on his luck detective solving a series of crimes and coming out of it a better and richer person in the end, or something, but the way that it's executed is alarmingly strange. I do get the sense that the world that the movie is supposed to take place in is the future, and it definitely has a bit of a Blade Runner feel to it, especially considering some of the lighting choices and set design. Maybe that's just me though. The acting, editing, dubbing and writing is just head-scratching most of the time and you'll find yourself laughing at it and enjoying it because it's not very good. For that, I give it a recommendation. I haven't really seen a movie like it, and I doubt I'll see another one to compare. Soon the cop finds himself involved with extortion, drugs and a serial killer. ~ Sandra Brennan, Rovi In this complicated police film, a police detective, who still grieves for the child he accidentally shot during a gun fight, finds distraction when a streetwalker approaches him and asks him to help her get out of the dark world in which she is hopelessly mired. Morgan Fairchild does a good job as a streetwalker with the sense to try to get out of the racket; Frank Stallone's very scary. Julia Kent is the perfect female counterpart and foil to Mueller-Stahl, and Michael York does a credible job as a pol. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Read all reviews
