Courtney K i knew what this was supposed to be before I watched it, but respectfully, wtf. it surprisingly does tell somewhat of a [very sad] story in it's short runtime, but it's basically just image after image of one thing happening right after another... it doesn't give you time to soak anything in; I think it could've been much more impactful had there been a little more time & effort put in. that being said, if you like the cliff notes version of things, you might like it. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 12/24/24 Full Review Leo P Visual feast with mindblowing soundrack by J.A.Seazer.This anime is not what it seems to be at first glance."Eye and bud torn by the crescent moon. The clothes of hell are camelia petals plunged into her mother's sea of tears." Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/20/24 Full Review Audience Member In RT, the 3.5-star rating is classified as "it's good, I'd recommend it". Well, this doesn't apply to this movie. "Midori" is a 48-minute long film that is undoubtedly more disturbing than most other oriental animations considered "disturbing", and I'm not the one who's saying this, this film was banned in most of the world due to its content. And if you watch the first 10 minutes, you'll already understand why it happened. Besides some shocking expositions, there's a scene that goes beyond the most unbearable of the gore on splatter films. I criticized a lot the glitched animation in Flee, but here it makes sense and helps to build the strangeness of this universe. And the remaining 38 minutes were less disturbing than I thought. The story is rushed (after all the movie has only 48 minutes) but flows well, and despite the lack of development of most of the supporting characters, they fulfil their roles perfectly. About the plot itself, it's impossible to develop any argument without entering into spoilers' territory. It's an interesting film to have in the repertory and I confess I'm curious to read the original manga. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Audience Member An orphan girl joins a freak show seeking refuge. Images pile onto to one another; bits are just like bad animated porn, others like classic horror. Others depraved. The animation is distracting and worse for that wide eyed Japanese style. I get the shock, the deliberate pushing of barriers, the desire to offend... my problem is it's just not very good. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member this movie is pretty insane, its rare when a movie can leave such an impact on me like this one did. Would definitely recommend. (If you can handle excessive gore) Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review lucca b Disturbing, gritty and impactful anime. While its animation it's not as remarkable, its story deals with controversial and heavy themes while providing a lasting impression on the audience.
