Arianna T @RT91228689 5d Some say this is the most horrifying anime they’ve seen. But in my opinion the gore was barely scary and other scenes were only slightly disturbing. I will admit that I was quite confused through lots of the movie, mainly because it felt like random clips scrapped together. The art style and animation was old and not amazing, but I found it added to the creepy vibe of the movie. The ending left many questions, and the plot wasn’t obvious. Overall - confusing, creepy, interesting. I wouldn’t recommend to anyone who can’t handle gore (as one scene early on is very gorey), abuse, or flashes/bright colours. While yes it uses shock, it uses it in a way to illustrate the suffering of the young protagonist, Midori. I feel this movie is an exploration of trauma especially through Midori and Kanabun, both children subjected to a reality too difficult to face. Kanabun has adapted to the best of his ability to survive, while in the process becoming something monstrous. Midori doesn't, and ends up killing herself in the end of the movie after the death of her Husband. Overall it's an amazing movie, though disturbing nonetheless. And the first watch through I felt disturbed the rest of my night (I did watch this at 12 or so). Now a day later I look back on it and have a strange need to watch it again, and I'm really beginning to love this movie oddly enough. Feels strange. See more E F @RT76729392 02/19/2025 It was scary and sad I didn’t understand some parts See more Courtney K @c0urtn3y 12/24/2024 i knew what this was supposed to be before I watched it, but respectfully, wtf. it surprisingly does tell somewhat of a [very sad] story in it's short runtime, but it's basically just image after image of one thing happening right after another... it doesn't give you time to soak anything in; I think it could've been much more impactful had there been a little more time & effort put in. that being said, if you like the cliff notes version of things, you might like it.
