What to Know

Critics Consensus

A daffy crime comedy that uses its sci-fi elements in the service of character, Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice is slick and amusing proof that there's enough room for two Vince Vaughns.

While it doesn’t fully coalesce its ambitious cocktail of subgenres, Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice delivers breezy entertainment and a welcome return for Vince Vaughn’s comedic chops.

Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice is one of those would-be genre-mashers eager to call itself a sci-fi buddy-action gangster rom-com, despite not actually having much of any of them. Go to Full Review

It doesn’t always work, but there’s such a madcap brio to the retro-Tarantino machinations that you can at least go with it. Go to Full Review

It has its faults and gets off to a slow start, but then hits the gas for a fun kick-back Friday night pick when you’re hankering for something that won’t overtax your brain. Go to Full Review

It's just a fun, gangster film with a lot of witty banter and dialogue. Go to Full Review

I’m a sucker for time-travel narratives, with all their mind games and paradoxes. So I enjoyed the setup for writer-director BenDavid Grabinski’s flick but felt let down by the action-comedy cliches that clog its second half. Go to Full Review

Nostalgia itself is not a subtext upon which to pointlessly center a comedic narrative, especially when the final product also happens to be as joyless, generic, and inconsequential as Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice. Go to Full Review

Donavin D @Hiyromedia 10h The story here is one I never felt fully inclined to take seriously, after all there is a character named Dumbass in more than one scene, but what’s here just feels like the beginning of a story rather than a fully fleshed out narrative. It has some good moments, some fun interactions and some funny scenes but it’s missing the connective tissue to make this film feel like more than the sum of its parts. Mike and Nick and Nick and Alice is by no means a bad film, it’s something you can turn your brain off for and find funny and action packed moments. Its premise is interesting but not enough is done with these characters or this world they operate in to make me care anything more than surface level for them. See more T P @price8567 2d Middle of the road action movie. Filmed annoyingly dark. I guess they saved money on lightning. See more Katy C @KChance 2d What a fun watch! Every time I see Vince Vaughan in anything I'm reminded just how good he is -- but smart enough not to over-expose himself. The dialogue is great from the first word, congrats BenDavid Grabinski. The logline gave me doubts, not being into time-machines in any genre, but the cast was too good not to give it a chance. And every one in it is great. I had forgotten how good James Marsden is at comedy. The pace, characters, delivery, all of the above, are fabulous. Laugh-out-loud funny at times but with seriously smart scriptwriting and a tempo that never flags. One of the only recent films (since Air) that feels shorter than its actual run-time, a rare feat! See more Ryan C. @djrmc24 3d Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice is a fun, creative, and action packed film that I really enjoyed. It seems these days there is a lot of recycled material but this film shows that new things can be done and done well. Huge shoutout goes to Director, BenDavid Grabinski who crafted a good film that never overstays it’s welcome. Vince Vaughn, James Marsden, and Eliza Gonzalez are all good here. In the film, Vince Vaughn plays Nick, a gangster who discovers a time machine and uses it to go back to one of the most crucial nights of his life. On that night, his friend Mike (James Marsden) and wife Alice (Eiza González) both went through some major, major life events because of Nick, and Nick wants to set things right. The only problem is, there are two Nicks in this timeline, so Future Nick recruits Present Nick to help everything go down. The movie really focuses on our three characters relationship and is the main driver for this film. I enjoyed this movie and it gets 4 stars out of 5. See more Joseph M. @jmiller012 3d Great comedy gangster movie with a twist. 2 Vince Vaughns and a Time Machine. Nothing like it See more Craig B @Boundsy 3d Whilst boasting a very good cast in Vince Vaughan (x2), James Marsden and the ever-watchable Eliza Gonzalez, Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice misses the mark. Ultimately saved by a bombastic action sequence in the second half of the film, this ultimately disappointing movie promised so much but unfortunately fell well short on delivering it's promise.
