Richard D Joe Shishido is a Yakuza soldier who falls out with his boss when he's first ordered to kill his own girlfriend, and then when his younger brother's boxing career is ended when the boss's thugs break his hands. He quits, but when his former boss won't let him go and has thugs bust up his jazz club, Shishido and his brothers fight back and war breaks out. This is a beautifully stylish crime flick with a cool, jazzy atmosphere. The final shoot out is masterfully staged and is worth the price of admission. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/02/18 Full Review Matt C This film was actually made in the 60's. Despite the title the violence is few and far between until the end, concentrating instead on the rising tension between a mob boss and his former employee. As with other films in this genre the influence on Tarantino is pretty obvious but this seems a minor entry in the genre. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 12/27/15 Full Review Read all reviews
