Keith Garlington Keith & the Movies “Missing in Brooks County” is a clear-eyed exposé of a troubling situation that isn’t as simple as “opening our borders” or “building a wall”. Rated: 4.5/5 Aug 24, 2022 Full Review Dennis Harvey 48 Hills Though rather pokily paced, this is a strong indictment of inhumane policies so far off the public radar, there's barely any bureaucracy in place to help search for those in probable mortal peril. Aug 24, 2021 Full Review Swapnil Dhruv Bose Film Threat Missing in Brooks County forces us to re-evaluate past and present legislative systems that have contributed to the disappearance and deaths of countless migrants and continue to do so with unashamed indifference. Rated: 8.5/10 Aug 19, 2021 Full Review Christopher Llewellyn Reed Hammer to Nail However one might feel about border security, human lives and their loss deserve respect. In this film, we honor the dead. Nov 19, 2020 Full Review Ricardo Gallegos La Estatuilla A crucial, empathetic and humane film that sheds light on the cruelty of United States' immigration policies. [Full review in Spanish] Oct 25, 2020 Full Review Elias Savada Film International The film examines, sometimes in gruesome detail, the unfortunate migrant disappearances and deaths that have occurred in this eponymous region of Texas, about an hour's drive from the Mexican border... dave d In trying to understand the border situation in America you have to watch this feature documentary. Filmmakers Lisa Molomot and Jeff Bemiss look at both sides from the people trying to make sure migrants don't die on US soil, to ones that are hunting them. It is fascinating and harrowing and while no solutions are given we see what the people on the ground are facing. It is a situation that is developing and needs to be discussed. This documentary is a fantastic addition or even a starter kit on the crisis. Brooks County isn't at the border, but it is most certainly at the center of a mess. Final Score: 8.2/10 Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/26/24 Full Review mary w I saw this at the Buffalo International Film Festival. It makes what would seem unbelievable incredibly human, immediate and raw. Your heart will go out to these people. It's truly eye-opening and worth watching. You learn in an engrossing story.
