In 1950 at the start of the Korean War, American Army pilot Capt. George Slocum (John Hodiak) is recalled to base. George arrives with brash young pilot Pete Barker (John Derek), the brother of his best friend. Although frustrated by his supply-dropping duties and saddened when his friend dies in the first wave of attacks, George flies his missions -- but must constantly rein in the reckless Pete. However, when George is wounded during an attack on the base, Pete's daring proves crucial.
