Gerwig and Baumbach fashion an interesting bunch of edgy characters that are in a state of constant formation, with a defined core to them. Go to Full Review

This particular dive into the fashionable problems of big city millennials may not measure up with Baumbach’s best. Yet it still manages to capture what I enjoy about his films, and the uniqueness of his formula is always satisfying. Go to Full Review

Nov 14 Typical Noah Baumbach movie. Great dialogue though almost always forced in a way that's irritating. I understand you're clever- I don't need to watch a movie of you expressing that through your characters. Plus, most of the situations in it were laughably implausible, they were just there to spew dialogue. Not going to keep and couldn't get through the whole thing. See more thiago s @Thiagostone Sep 23 Filme fraco, o roteiro é fraco, as cenas são fracas, a história é fraca, o elenco é fraco, e ninguém ajuda a melhorar o filme, os personagens são fracos, e o filme deveria ter cenas bem melhores e relevantes, para fazer o filme ser bom See more Mason M Jul 31 I do always love a good Noah Baumbach picture, and Mistress America was another great addition to his already great filmography. I do think, too, that Baumbach's best collaborator is Greta Gerwig. His dialogue and characters just meshes so well with her acting style. Mistress America was a very fun film that took a bit of time to grow on me, but is really just a spectacular film. I usually don't like films that are this fast-paced, but I couldn't help but love this film's fast pace along with its ingeniously done dialogue. The dialogue was clever, quirky, and the hyper-fast pace in which it's delivered is downright impressive. Gerwig's performance was another highlight of this film. And Baumbach has depicted New York in many of his films, but this was probably my favorite of his depictions of the city with how lively and saturated the characters and settings were. Mistress America shows Baumbach at his best, with plenty of his spectacular dialogue, amazing characters and lively plot. See more Georgan G Dec 11 This was not a comedy, nor was it anything else. While the acting was ok, the plot was nonsensical. Reminded me of Seinfeld, which I also didn't like. See more Alec B 12/14/2023 I actually wish Baumbach had pushed the zany and farcical elements further rather than falling back on a familiar narrative. Gerwig's performance deserved something bolder. See more John G 12/07/2023 Critic reviews notwithstanding, there was little that was funny here. Substituting irony and satire for humor. After 45 minutes, nothing seemed to make much sense, so we quit. Nothing objectionable. See more Read all reviews
